The ideal climate and the humus, natural enriched with a lot of minerals, gives a marvellous basic for all sorts of fruit, olives, wines and vegetable. All those agriculture products from Neohori are well known on the Greek market as well as in foreign countries. Especially the apples are really "top sellers". In the region of Neohori you will find the sorts "Stark in Delicious", "Golden Delicious" and the pelioritic mountain apple "Firikia" (little, very aromatic apple, elongated form). As pear people loves the sort "Cristallia".
You can find also the production of great olives (Gigantes Elias) and olive oil. Olives that grows up in plantations of the mountain get an aromatic flesh and smelly oil. Neohori offers as well sweet chestnuts, walnuts, grapes, wine, Tsipouro (raki) and excellent
natural honey. With a little bit of luck maybe you will get some homemade Mountain- / or goat cheese. All those Agro products play an important role on the Greek market - especially apples and oil - and they are exported worldwide.
In the last years a new kind of agriculture is preferred - the ecological agriculture. A lot of young people, coming from Greece and from foreign countries, now are cultivating their products in the region of Neohori by following those natural ways. This biological agriculture offers future prospects and guaranteed developments; it is good for the nature and gives us healthy fruits that are aromatic and tasty.
