Neohori, seat of the municipality Afetes (Dimos Afeton), is one of the most beautifully villages in the southern foothills of the Pilion massif. Pictorial embedded and protected in the elbow of the peninsula, the view can curve out like as in an Amphitheatre: in the west on the Pagasitikos gulf; in the east on the Aegean and towards the north on the mountains of the Pilion. Neohori lies 480 meters over the sea level and is easily to reach from the beautiful city of Volos (35 km).
The villages
Aghios Dimitrios,
Plaka, and Klossou at the Aegean Sea side belong to Neohori as well as the villages at the Pagasitikos gulf like the popular touristic center
Afissos (ancient port of Neohori) and the settlement
Zervohia, (with a lot of German speaking inhabitants).
Dark pine trees and coniferous forests (one of the largest one at Greece) high chestnut trees, age-old plane trees, innumerable arbutus and millions of erica are characteristic of the landscape. Idyllic hills and lively brooks complete the pictorial mosaic. At the slopes of the mountain Isomata flourish the most varied types of plants, herbs and spices. Here the wanderer finds a unique unaffected Fauna, as well as flowering fruit cultures, with the
famous apples of the Pilion. Innumerable olive plantings give perfection to the wonderful picture.
