Moving away from Neohori to the East, towards
Aghios Dimitrios, a little over one mile (2km) away from Lai, the
Giourtsa settlement will be reached to surprise the visitor with a splendid view to the Aegean Sea. In the settlement area Medieval graves, old churches and church ruins are found and can be visited, like the
Aghias Sotiras (1813),
Aghia Paraskevi (1823) and
Aghios Athanassios (1818), this last one is in a very well preserved state.
On the way down to the Aegean Sea the village of Aghios Dimitrios with fine small and medium size residences appears as a gift to your view. Olive groves with thousands of olive trees and abandoned small chromium mines complete the landscape.
Aghios Dimitrios is one of the oldest settlements in the area some 6 miles from Neohori where a church with the same name is very well preserved.
